The Village recently received the following from the Propel NY Energy Team.
” I am writing to inform you that this month (July 2024) the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and New York Transco (Transco) plan to initiate our permitting process for the Propel NY Energy project with the submission of a Public Service Law Article VII (Article VII) application to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC).
About Propel NY Energy
Propel NY Energy is an innovative electric transmission project that will improve the reliability, resiliency, and the delivery of clean energy, including offshore wind, through electric grid improvements across parts of Long Island, New York City, and Westchester County. The project includes approximately 90 miles of new underground and submarine electric transmission lines carefully routed to avoid and minimize environmental and community impacts, as well as four new electrical stations on existing utility-owned properties. Propel NY Energy project is subject to Article VII, which requires a full review of the project need and the environmental impacts of the siting, design, construction, and operation of major electric transmission facilities in New York State. The Article VII process includes robust stakeholder and community participation. Enclosed is the Article VII Public Notice. The Article VII application will be available for public review in local libraries noted in the Public Notice. Additionally, the project will receive a docket number that you can use to view documents on the PSC’s website – https://documents.dps.ny.gov/public/common/search.html.
