Dear Muttontown Resident,
Propel NY Energy is an innovative electric transmission project that will improve the reliability, resiliency, and the delivery of clean energy, including offshore wind, through electric grid improvements across parts of Long Island, New York City, and Westchester County. The project includes approximately 90 miles of new underground and submarine electric transmission lines carefully routed to avoid and minimize environmental and community impacts, as well as four new electrical stations on existing utility-owned properties. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2026. Additional information about the project and the Article VII process can be found at our website: https://www.propelnyenergy.com/.
Propel NY Energy project is subject to Article VII, which requires a full review of the project need and the environmental impacts of the siting, design, construction, and operation of major electric transmission facilities in New York State. The Article VII process includes robust stakeholder and community participation. Enclosed is the Article VII Public Notice. The Article VII application will be available for public review in local libraries noted in the Public Notice. Additionally, the project will receive a docket number that you can use to view documents on the PSCâs website – https://documents.dps.ny.gov/public/common/search.html.
